Pepper is one of the independent of these cats can leave the house several days to go about his business in the neighborhood. To rely only on himself, he learned to open only the kitchen window by pushing the latch 90 degrees to escape through the airlock.

“The first time he did was at a dinner. Everyone was applauding so I think that encouraged him to continue,” said his mistress.

Its owners could not imagine that this gift would one day save the life of Pepper … and £ 350,000 house situated in Devon in the UK.

While they were out Christmas shopping, the owners of Pepper have forgotten that their microwave was running. The latter caught fire, threatening to destroy the house.

“I forgot my wallet and I decided not to turn” tells the local. Bad idea! Fortunately Pepper is there, and he has a continuity of ideas; to save his life while the smoke was spreading, he played his hocus-pocus with the kitchen window to escape the inferno.

The half-open window let out a thick smoke which immediately alerted the neighbors. They call the owners of Pepper in emergency and firefighters.

Result: The damage is minimal due to the reactivity of the cat smart. A firefighter agrees: “If Pepper had not opened the window, the fire would spread widely.”

That is a cat who richly deserved his uniform and badge of a firefighter.
