This disorder is also known as cat scratch disease. If you have a cat that bites or scratches you should know that you may suffer unpleasant consequences.
Those most at risk of becoming infected with this disease are children, because they are often exposed to injuries sustained by cats, wanting to manipulate them as if they were toys.
This is a relatively rare infectious disease transmitted by cats. It is produced by bacteria of the genus Bartonella, which although annoying symptoms is benign and usually heals by itself.
Symptoms of cat scratch fever:
Disappearance of a pustule at the place injured, swollen lymph nodes near the infected area, presence of fever and fatigue.
In addition, the infected person feels a malaise, often with headache. Less common symptoms are weight loss, an enlarged spleen, sore throat and suppuration of the lymph nodes.
If you suspect have been infected, you turn to your doctor to let you know the steps to follow in terms of treatment. You may prescribe antibiotics or recommend that you take care of yourself while annoying symptoms disappear.
