One of the worst diseases of the heart that can suffer a dog is heartworm and filariasis, a serious parasitic sickness that occurs when a parasite much like a worm, called microfilariae, get to the heart of the animal and its arteries, once has been infected.
Filariasis is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito that has previously been infected with the larvae of this parasite and acts as an agent that transmits the disease.
