The dogs are “in heat” when they enter the fertile period of their reproductive cycle. The heat lasts about three weeks and a dog usually come into heat every 6-8 months.
In most races the first mating season takes place at about 6 months old, but may occur earlier or later.
Usually can be identified by mild bleeding from the vagina, vulva, swollen or increased urination. However, the bleeding in dogs is not too strong and a small dog may even go unnoticed.
Unwanted attention
